As part of the intestinal flora, the majority of lactic acid bacteria settle in the small intestine and especially in the large intestine. They are absorbed through food, for example through fermented vegetables or sour milk products such as kefir or soured milk. Another source can be yoghurts or yoghurt drinks, the effects of which are widely known.

Food supplements can be a valuable way of specifically increasing your intake of lactic acid bacteria. Dr Rath’s ProCultura combines selected lactic acid bacteria from 15 different bacterial strains. These include bifidobacteria, bacteria from the genus Lactobacillus, and the special subspecies Streptococcus thermophilus from the genus Streptococcus.

In addition to its carefully selected mix of lactic acid bacteria, Dr. Rath’s ProCultura stands out for several other key features:
  • The formula includes organic Jerusalem artichoke, which serves as food for lactic acid bacteria. This stimulates the growth of bacterial strains in the gut. The human digestive tract cannot digest it.
  • The capsule used to complete the formula is gastro-resistant—an important quality feature that helps ensure the lactic acid bacteria reach the intestine intact.
  • The number of viable lactic acid cultures has been carefully selected. With the recommended daily intake of 2 capsules, the diet can be supplemented with up to 6 × 10⁹ lactic acid bacteria.
Dr Rath’s ProCultura contains 15 different bacterial strains: Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. animalis, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium breve BR03, Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis, Bifidobacterium longum subsp. longum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Levilactobacillus brevis, Lacticaseibacillus casei, Lactobacillus gasseri, Lacticaseibacillus paracasei, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum, Limosilactobacillus reuteri, Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus, Ligilactobacillus salivarius, Streptococcus salivarius subsp. thermophilus.

Recommended intake:

Adults: 1 capsule 2 times per day with lukewarm liquid, about 30 min before a meal.
Recommended allowance per daily intake: 6 billion colony-forming units (CFU).
